Hello beautiful! My name is Blake and welcome to The Fashion Orchid. I am so excited to take you along this journey into my little world of all things fashion, beauty, travel, food, and oh so much more! Fashion has always been a huge part of my identity ever since I was a little girl. It all started with my mother and her incredible sense of fashion as well as my grandmother’s. As a little girl, one of my favorite activities was going into my mother’s and grandmother’s closets and just taking it all in with ambitious and passionate eyes. As I wandered through all of the dresses, jewelry, and more, I started gaining knowledge and my path in life was very clear.
I grew up a Jersey girl, was born in New York City, and am now living here and studying for a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Business Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Part of the development of my inspiration and creative style also has to do with traveling to different places and learning about the cultures as well as the style lessons passed down from my mother and grandmother. I started this blog to create a space of what I like to think is a girly-girl’s heaven that you can pop into any time and get all the latest on style inspiration, glam, vacation destinations, and more. I hope to inspire and empower all women to feel beautiful, confident, and comfortable wearing any outfit. Whether you are trying to come up with the perfect style vibe that makes you feel your most confident and best self or a guide to restaurants in any city, as well as travel and beauty tips, my dear you have come to the right place! I am looking forward to showing you all of the places, people, and things I love. Please, please enjoy yourself and subscribe at the bottom to receive weekly newsletters and new blog posts of the week! Xo
Yours Truly,
The Fashion Orchid
- Spring & Summer Florals
During the Spring and Summer, I am almost always wearing a floral print. Because let’s be honest, how could sunshine, cherry blossoms blooming and summer vacations not be a mood lifter after the freezing months of December-February in New York City? One of my all-time favorite designers for floral print has always been Dolce & Gabbana. For years, I have noticed that they always incorporated floral print in every collection per season. On a beautiful afternoon in July, I wore this yellow floral Dolce & Gabbana number. I remember this dress feeling so easy and comfortable to move around in and of course, twirl! I got this dress off of the website Mytheresa. I love that website because you can find so many luxury items for a great deal. I highly recommend this website!
- My Hot Girl Summer European Edition : Capri !!!
La Fontelina Beach Club
Last summer, I took a trip to Capri, Italy with my family. In Capri, my favorite spot during the day to relax was La Fontelina Beach Club. There were a couple of days on the trip I spent the day there and enjoyed some rest and relaxation as well as a spectacular lunch at their restaurant with a breathtaking view of the water. They are known for their zucchini spaghetti dish which is unbelievably delicious and so savory.
Boat Day and La Conca del Sogno
If you are in Capri, a boat day on the water and going through the blue and green grottos as well as a beautiful, fulfilling lunch at La Conca del Sogno is a MUST! This is my favorite day in Capri always! Another restaurant in Capri known for their zucchini spaghetti dish. When you are on the boat, I highly recommend everyone try at least once to actually jump in the water. You will not regret! The water feels so warm and refreshing. It is absolutely stunning!
Dinner at Aurora
One of Capri’s most buzzing restaurants and known for their celebrity
citings is Aurora. Here, they are known for their out of this world pizza (trust me when I tell you that) and truffle pasta. The pasta portions are small because in Italy they are considered more of an appetizer dish, but oh it was so delicious!Floral Outfits are a Must
Capri is the place for all things floral prints, tea length and maxi dresses! I planned which nights I was going to wear what. The first night I wore this beautiful Caroline Constas orange and yellow vibrant floral printed blouse with white trousers by Alice and Olivia. The second night I wore this beautiful white tea length floral dress by Les Rivêries, which is one of my favorite designers for floral prints. I hope you enjoy these two looks as much as I did!
- A Quick Little Weekend Getaway
Last weekend, I took a quick weekend trip to Nantucket and it was
absolutely adorable and charming. I highly recommend staying at Greydon House which is a beautiful boutique hotel right in the center of town where the staff were beyond accommodating and kind. Especially, when I lost a day due to my flight being canceled. Conde Nast has an article about the hotel if you want to research and find out more about it! Something I recommend doing before dinner while your there is taking a walk down the marina where you will see all the yachts parked and a great view of the water. This is where that golden hour light hits at its finest, so it is a great opportunity for pics! Also, grabbing drinks at Cru which is a local hot spot for drinks, dancing and a DJ. It is almost like something out of the Hamptons. It is sort of like a Surf Lodge/Duryeas meets Nantucket vibe. I did not end up taking any pics from Cru, but I guess one could say that means it was way too much fun that you didn’t even think about taking out your phone to take pics or videos! On the last night, dinner was at one of the famous and old school restaurants of Nantucket called Chanticleer which was a 10/10! I recommend sitting outside in their garden if you want to have a more romantic and intimate setting. A must order is the halibut which was not only presented beautifully, but was equally mouthwatering and delicious!
- Indochine or Indochic
A friend of mine and I dined at one of New York’s most iconic restaurants recently. A French-Vietnamese hot spot for every New York Fashion who’s-who in the industry. Indochine or as I like to call it “Indochic” because of their chic interior and aesthetic. Here you will find a banana leaf on banana leaf wall print giving off the Beverly Hills Hotel vibe, checkered floors, and the shimmer in flowing cocktails and champagne. Many afterparties have taken place at this restaurant and it has been in the press many times. If you are looking for a festive, chic, and buzzing restaurant vibe, Indochine is definitely the place!
